This is the owner’s previous door which was looking a little old and worn after years of use.
The owners top priority was keeping the stained glass, so when we explained that was possible and they could recreate the original door, the homeowners were delighted.
The owners top priority was keeping the stained glass, so when we explained that was possible and they could recreate the original door, the homeowners were delighted.
Our skilled joiners replicated the original door’s shape. It had a primer coat applied to ensure all the grains of the wood were filled for a smooth finish and it sealed the new timber, preventing the paint coat from sinking into the timber. The top coat of paint was then applied and the new door was ready to be installed. The door was transformed with Accoya Timber to the beautiful, shiny, fully-functional front door below.
Our installers then fitted the door and completed the job within the day, taking away the old door to save the stained glass. The family-run business worked with stained-glass manufacturer, D Sunderland Glass to encapsulate the stained glass – this is a glazing process which essentially means the stained glass now sits between glass panes.
The final stained-glass panes were fitted and the door was completed. As the door was made from Accoya Timber, the owners will not need to worry about any swelling, shrinking or distortion and can enjoy their beautiful new front door for years to come.
